Smart Recovery Training:

Smart Recovery Training took place on the 29th Feb and 1st March 2016, we had 13 people who participated in this training, so it was very successful. We are hoping to get more Smart Meetings up and running due to this training.

Smart sees ‘Addiction’ covering a range of issues from Alcohol, Drugs and Gambling to overeating, in fact any addictive behaviour is welcome. We support people based on science and by the use of skills that we can help people learn ‘Self Empowering Skills’. Facilitators can be for any group of people and we importantly encourage ‘Peers’ to be involved.

We use ‘Tools’ that help us run meetings and support people; this is Smart Recovery’s 4-Point Program:

  1. Building and maintaining motivation.
  2. Coping with urges.
  3. Managing thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
  4. Living a balanced Life.

If you are interested in coming to the training and would consider getting involved in a group, all which are local, please contact ljmclaughlin@pkc.gov.uk
